Custom Activity Timeline
The Seven20 custom activity timeline is a version of the Salesforce activity timeline for the Contact object, with some additional features which extend its functionality beyond the Salesforce version.
It is featured on the Contact previews within the split view for Hotlist, Search, Match and JBA Rater, as well as the ATS Additional Details panel.
LWC version
The custom activity timeline is also available as a Lightning web component called 'Activity Timeline' which can be placed on the Contact record page and used instead of the standard Salesforce version.
Actions
In addition to the timeline itself, the Seven20 custom version also includes the four activity actions available in the Salesforce version: New Task, Log a Call, Email and New Event.
Unlike the Salesforce version, all four actions are always present, rather than this being controlled by page layouts.
The fields included for New Task, Log a Call and New Event are drawn from the relevant Global Action layouts, i.e. the configuration is shared with the standard Salesforce activity actions. Some fields will be excluded from display even if included in the layouts, such as fields which cannot be supported in the context or are not intended to be set by users.
The Email action uses the Seven20 email service and is functionally identical to the Seven20 Contact email quick action, except that it also features a custom 'Related To' field.
Custom lookup fields
In order to support various features within the activity actions, there are also custom versions of some of the commonly used lookup fields.
Related To
The Seven20 version of this field allows for the selection of records from the following objects - Account, Application, Hotlist, Interview, Job, Job Lead, Job Board Application, Placement. Depending on the context, the object and record may be automatically populated, such as when creating a Task from within a Hotlist.
Account records with Active = No and Job records with Job Closed = TRUE are automatically excluded from lookup results.
Each object's lookup results display different searchable contextual fields to assist with identifying the desired record and the lookup also supports the creation of new records for Account, Hotlist, Job and Job Lead.
Name
The Name field allows for activities to be related to a Contact as the WhoId and supports Salesforce's Allow Users to Relate Multiple Contacts to Tasks and Events activity setting.
Contacts/Users
There is also a combined lookup field which allows for the simultaneous selection of records from both the Contact and User objects and which is used both for the Attendees field on 'New Event' and the To/CC/BCC fields for 'Email'.
Activity Timeline
The actual timeline portion displays activities in much the same way as the Salesforce version, with both an 'Upcoming & Overdue' section and a section for historic activities, as well as the ability to expand individual activities for more detail.
Related Contact Activities
When viewing for timelines for Candidates, if the seven20__Related_Client_Contact__c field is populated, activities for that related Contact will also be included in the activity timeline. This works vice versa when viewing Client Contacts, using the seven20__Related_Candidate__c field. Related activities can be toggled on/off using a checkbox at the top of the activity timeline.
This feature can be enabled/disabled as required at the user, profile and org level using the Show Related Activities Seven20 User Setting.
The record type of the Contact being viewed must be flagged as 'Candidate' or 'Client Contact' via the Candidate/Client Contact record type settings for this feature to work.
Users must have access to the relevant related Contact fields for this feature to be available in the timeline.
